Channel 9 Blood Drive

January 2010

As a regular blood recipient, Sydney was asked to be an ambassador of sorts and appear on our local ABC station to help promote their annual Blood Drive. Sydney and Mommy were a little nervous, but they both did a fantastic job. Daddy and Lily were there too, but we're guessing the producers decided Lily had a little too much energy that night to be on camera too.

Sydney's Story - Florida's Blood Centers

July 2009

Florida's Blood Centers added a section on their web site called "Hero Stories" to feature donors and patients who have benefited from their generosity. Sydney's story was one of the first featured on the site. Nancy Gay and a cameraman came to our house and spent a little time with Sydney and Mommy to learn more about her condition. Sydney entertained with her charm while Mommy filled them in on everything she has been through so far. The finished product was very well done and has been a great tool for telling others about Sydney's illness.

Sydney's Story - Fox 35

November 2008

Cheryl Getuiza from our local Fox station came to our house to interview Mommy about another story when she met Sydney. She was immediately taken by Sydney and all that she's been through and decided to come back a few days later to do a full story on her. It was big enough that we even saw it promoted on a billboard and in between commercials on Fox. A few nights later it aired on the ten o'clock news and thousands of people around central Florida learned about Sydney and her illness.

Orlando's Most Photogenic Baby - Local 6

August 2007

We heard about local baby photo contest to benefit children's hospitals in the area, so we figured why not take Sydney down and give it a shot and say thanks. Sydney wasn't too crazy about her photo being taken, but she caught the eye of the local CBS reporter. Next thing we knew, Mommy and Sydney were being interviewed and their spot made on the air that night.
