Remember that new tricycle I got for my birthday 3 months ago? Well Daddy finally got around to putting it together yesterday and today we took it out for a maiden voyage. I'm still not quite able to pedal yet, so Daddy did all the pushing. We went for a ride around the whole neighborhood and I was so proud to show everyone my new bike. When we got back we had worked up quite a sweat in the August heat, so Daddy misted me with the garden hose. I always have a ball getting soaking wet. Maybe I'm part fish?

Well, it's been over 4 weeks and my hemoglobin is higher than expected. I'm still anemic, just not as much as I usually am after 4 weeks. My retic is up too, but that's both good and bad. It means my bone marrow is making blood, which is good, but the bad part is that it can actually work too hard and deform my bones over time. They're going to check and see where I'm at next week. It doesn't help that I've had a cold for the past several days, so I figure I'll be getting a transfusion next week regardless.

It's been a bit of a rough end of the month being anemic and having a cold for the past several days, but despite all that I've still been able to have some fun. Have a look at these pictures and you'll see what I mean.

Sure enough, I tanked. My hemoglobin dropped 2 points since last week. Which makes sense, because I've really felt bad the past few days. So has Mama. She got my cold too. Nevertheless, she got me right in for a transfusion today, and thankfully I'm starting to feel better again. The nurse brought in the donated blood and called it a "fat bag". Haha. She wasn't trying to insult it. The bag was just bigger than usual, which meant I only needed blood from a single donor this time. There was even some left over. Hopefully, now that I'm feeling better, I can kick this silly cold soon.
