The clinic that I go to all the time for doctor visits and transfusions recently got remodeled and they needed some decorations to hang on the bare walls. So they invited some of the kids to come down and have a painting party. We were asked to paint a pretty picture of whatever we wanted. This painting thing was kind of new to me. I had colored before but never anything so messy as painting. I wasn't even sure which hand to use. But I decided to just go for it and laid on a few strokes of a pretty sky blue. Just when I got things going I got sidetracked by an interesting looking toy in the corner and that was the end of that. Mommy ended up finishing my painting for me and she made a pretty beach scene. It was very nice and it's hanging up at the clinic with all the other art the other kids painted.

I didn't know what I was in for after the long car ride, but when we got out and walked up and over the stairs, I laid my eyes upon the most amazing site. There was sand and water as far as the eye could see. And lots of people too. I never knew such a place existed. After trudging through lots and lots of sand we finally got close to the water. I was a little nervous at first, but Mommy took my hand and walked me right up to the waves. It was quite a thrill seeing all that water coming right at me, especially from my point of view, but I felt safe the whole time with Mommy holding my hand. Then she picked me up and walked us out INTO the water. Boy was that an experience. The waves were a bit bigger out there, but Mommy held me tight and it was fun. The waves just kept right on coming, one after another, and I laughed every time they splashed around us.
Eventually we waded back in and I was comfortable enough wandering around the sand and letting the waves tickle my toes. There were so many tiny interesting things to discover. Lots and lots of shells and little pieces of seaweed everywhere. I had to examine them all. But just like all good things, it had to come to an end eventually. Plus the sun was so bright we couldn't stay out in it for long, but it sure was fun while it lasted. I can't wait to go again.

It's like clockwork. I've gone exactly 1 month and 4 days between my last 4 transfusions. It seems that my body has settled into a rhythm. Two weeks of feeling good, followed by two weeks of feeling not-so-good, transfusion, repeat. It was another early rise whirlwind departure for the clinic this morning. I'm still getting used to it. I may be tired at the end of the day, but it's a good tired after getting my blood "topped up".
