We came home from church today and we couldn't find 'Biz' (one of our cats) for a while. We looked all over the house and then I finally found her. She was hiding out in the clothes hamper. I bet she thought she was safe in there. She's warmed up to me the past few months but she's still not comfortable enough to let me pet her, so it's a rare thing when I actually do. This time I had her trapped. Daddy lowered me down into the hamper "Mission Impossible" style and I pet her like she's never been pet before. I was so amused I couldn't stop giggling. Of course this only made her more nervous, but there was no way out for her so she just had to sit there and take it. Fortunately Biz is a gentle cat so she put up with me really well. She hasn't hid in the clothes hamper since.

It was such a beautiful day today that Mommy and Daddy decided to take me to the park nearby. Nana and Papa were visiting and they came along too. We hadn't been to that park for quite a while and lo and behold, when we got there were saw a brand new beautiful playground. My eyes got so big when I saw it. I absolutely love playgrounds, even though I'm not quite big enough to play on most of the equipment by myself. Today, though, Daddy helped me try out just about all of it. My favorite part was the slide. We went down that many many times. It was such a fun afternoon. We even met another nice family who spent some time talking to Mommy and Nana while Daddy chased me around the playground. It turns out that the father works at a local radio station and said he would like to help spread my story. I was already having a great afternoon and meeting these nice people was icing on the cake.

There's a wonderful place near our town where the water deep inside the Earth bubbles up to the top and spills out into a small river. The water is very cold, but it's so beautiful there people love to swim in it anyway. I have been to the park before but I was too little to go in the water. Today was my lucky day. Mommy and I went there this morning with Nana and Papa. It was such a beautiful day and it wasn't crowded at all so we practically had the whole place to ourselves. We walked around a little and explored the trails and I even saw a big turtle digging his way back into his hole.
Then the big moment came and Mommy and I braved the very cold water. Boy was it cold. It's a little shocking at first, but I love the water so much I got used to it pretty quick. Mommy floated me around and around and I had a ball. However, it didn't take long before my lips started turning blue. My tiny body had a hard time keeping itself warm, so before long we had to get out. I still had lots of fun, though. I'll keep getting bigger and we can go back again.

This is the second time in a row that my transfused blood only lasted three and a half weeks. We were hoping last time was a fluke, but two times in a row is a bit discouraging. Here's hoping that the batch I got this time goes a bit longer. It was from another anonymous donor from the general blood supply. The nurses noticed that it was much darker and thicker than usual. I hope that means it lasts longer too.

I'm getting another transfusion today. It's been a rough couple of days so Mommy wanted me to get to do something fun before my transfusion this afternoon. Usually we go to story time down at the library every week but lately they've been having story time at the zoo. And this week they were doing something extra special. After story time all of us kids got to paint pumpkins! Each of us got a pumpkin just our size. Then the nice ladies gave us a brush and some paints and then we had at it. My friend, Jocie, was there too, painting away right beside me. I didn't realize it before, but I love to paint. I used every color I had to decorate my little pumpkin. By the time I was all done there was a masterpiece sitting before me. I couldn't wait to show Daddy when he got home from work. Sure enough, he loved it.

This year was the first time I really got to go trick or treating. Last year Daddy just wheeled me around in the stroller but this time I got to walk on my own two feet and carry my own candy basket. Who knew you could knock on your neighbors' doors and they'd come out with the biggest bowls of candy you'd ever seen. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but by the third house I was all into it. That was until... the dogs. There I am in my full body bright yellow duck costume looking like a giant dog toy. It seemed like every house we went to had dogs. Of course when I came to the door most of them went nuts for a chance to sniff me all over. This in turn terrified me since I could see very little of what was going on out of my tiny duck face opening so I tried to run away. Fortunately, they were all just curious and I was never in any danger. But it took a lot of convincing by Mommy and Daddy that everything was fine. By the time we got back home I had forgotten all about the dogs. My basket was overflowing with candy!
