Sydney's Journal - July 2004

All of Dada's family came to visit us on this day they call the Fourth of July. Maybe when I get older I'll learn what it's all about. All I knew was that it is a time to see family. I finally got to meet Uncle Dan. He's a big guy. He picked me up and held me like a football. Later we all went out to some place where people bring you food. I think it's called a restaurant. For some reason they didn't bring me any food. It's all good. I slept through it all anyway.

Oh how I love bath time. Mama puts me in my own little tub and gives me a sponge bath. I wasn't sure what I thought about it at first, but after a while I got used to it. When we're all done Mama wraps me up in my hoodie and dries me off. I love being all fresh and clean.

Nana and Poppy came to visit today. My grandparents love me so much. They spent so much time snuggling with me. I loved it. I don't remember much because I spent most of the time sleeping. So did Poppy.

Here we go again. It seemed like I just went through this not that long ago. I haven't been feeling so well. My skin turned orange again and everything feels out of sorts. Mama and Dada try to comfort me but I just can't help crying most of the time. Today I get my next transfusion. I look forward to feeling better.

I was looking forward to my visit to Doctor B. but when we got there I quickly changed my mind. Turns out I was due for something called immunization shots. I was already an old pro with needles at this point, but this was a whole 'nother thing. Boy was I sore.
